“The more we pray -in the sense of living a prayful life- the more we desire to pray.”

Prayer and Ministry

If you are experiencing problems with prayer, start with devotions. Sing a song to the Lord. Even if it is one you just wrote in your heart -by the way those are the best ones. Start singing. Begin to wave your hands. Just exalt God in your heart.

Prayer will flow as living water… it will flow.

Amen

I would like to be believed that transparency is my gift… =0)

So in an effort to be transparent, I can say initially prayer was a struggle for me. However, the more I engaged God in prayer the more I enjoyed it. “I” enjoy communing with God. Prayer is not another requirement in a list of dos and donts. You are free to commune with God not out of obligation but just because talking to the One who loves you is nice and rewarding.

Like me, some of you may find prayer to be a struggle. We must overcome the struggles of prayer. We have heard time and time again that “prayer is simply talking to God”. I guess the hindrance to that statement is how can you use “simply” and “God” in the same sentence? I dare to say you cannot and should not literally.

You -a finite human full of imperfections- are seeking the loving attention of a HOLY God. There is nothing simple about that. Our God is a Being rich in mercy but who also possesses fierce anger.  While He is slow to anger, His anger can be fierce. But be of good cheer for God is not like some of us… angry in the heat of the moment. He is patient and His anger is directed at sin. The Bible says God is “angry with the wicked every day.” (Psalm 7:11)

You as a believer in God are far from wicked. No not perfect but far from wicked.

In prayer you are able to see yourself as God, the Great Creator sees you. In addition to experiencing some of the Divine: the very essence of God.

Once you recognized and come into contact with the Holiness of God…. you immediately become like Isaiah and say “Woe is me!” Yet there is open access to the Father – our King of kings. I know imaging yourself talking to the King of kings is like jumping over Mount McKinley. It seems impossible! But what I love about God is His ability to make the impossible… possible. God wants a relationship with us. Hallelujah!!!! So much so that He is pursuing us.

Need convincing? Mediate on the following scriptures:
• John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” NIV
• Rom 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” NKJV
My favorite:
• Zeph 3:17 “The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” NKJV

WOW! God will sing over me! AMAZING!!!

I would encourage you… right now to turn the tables. Start the conversation by telling God how wonderful He is. Sometimes I start my prayer by saying “God remember when…” In no time flat my hesitation becomes a royal occasion to sit at the feet of Jesus. And I am the one singing… praises to our God.

“I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise.” (Psalm 18:3 NIV)

Prayer is talking one on one with the Creator of the universe. It is an opportunity to not only be renewed but to gain new insight. Everyday we are in battle, however, prayer will allow us the chance to stand firm on the Word of God. In prayer we grow Spiritually killing our flesh daily.

This is a new day. God is calling us to newness of life. Pray so you can kill the old and accept this new abundant life.

“I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power throught His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts throught faith.”

Life is much like a race; one must always look ahead in order to progress forward. In looking onward you are able to see the stretch clearly which will allow you the proper timing to plan and make the necessary corrections. For you see, some tracks may have bubbles while others have debris. You may come across sideliners, in addition, to all the other activities that are taking place on the field around you. That is just a fact of racing: DISTRACTIONS!

The same is truth in the Spiritual realm as it is in the natural. This world has all kinds of distractions. Yet, the believer is encouraged to focus his/her attention ahead. The Bible says “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Each and every day offer us a new opportunity to regroup and refocus. It is through prayer that we are able to regain our momentum.

In prayer, we are able to confess our sins, cast all our cares and leave our petitions. Prayer allows us to see truth and receive guidance for the journey ahead. This is our time of preparation and restoration. In the Throne Room, we can commune with God – developing a better sense of who God is thus who we are as individuals. It is in prayer that the distractions of life are forgotten and replaced with a greater determination to aim for the prize. Whether long or short, this race can be faithfully won; however, each runner must be equipped with prayer.

Meditate on the Word of God daily. As you meditate on the Word begin to bring the Word into your life. This is the key of renewing your mind. You may not feel at peace right now but focus on the scripture which says, He will keep you in perfect peace if you keep your mind stayed on Him.” Then focus your mind on Christ and everything else will fall in line.

Everyday bring a new scripture off the pages of the Bible and place them into your heart.

Be Bless.

The Bible is clear: we have a High Priest who understands our weaknesses, for He faced all the same testings and yet He did not sin.

I don’t know about you… but that’s good news for me. It is encouraging to know we can go to our Savior and receive genuine sympathy. But it goes a little further because He who had no sin was made sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteous of God. Amen.

May this encouraged you to boldly go to God in prayer, knowing that He has delete sin from the equation. Thus there are no hindrances for you communing with the Great I AM I AM.
